1. How old to I have to be to rent?
State law requires that renters be 18 years old. In addition we require a photo ID such as a Drivers License or military ID. We also make a copy of your credit card for insurance purposes. We return the copy to you or shred it for you when the rental is returned with no damages.
2. What are the requirements to drive the vehicles?
You have to be 16 years old to operate a scooter or scoot coupe. A drivers license is not required. Helmets are required for drivers and passengers. You must have a valid drivers license to operate a golf cart.
3. What are the laws for operating these vehicles?
The same traffic laws apply to our vehicles as a regular car in the state of North Carolina. Speed limits must be obeyed. You can be ticketed just the same as when driving a normal car. Seat belt use is required in Golf Carts and Scoot Coupes. Golf carts are only permitted on roads with posted speed limits of 35 MPH or less.
4. Do I have to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle?
State law requires bike riders 15 years old or under to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle.
5. Where are the vehicles permitted?
Vehicles are for road use only. No off road use is allowed. We ask that vehicles not be taken off of the island without special permission from our staff. Golf Carts and Scoot Coupes are never allowed off of the island.
6. Is there insurance available?
There is an optional collision damage waiver available for a cost of $15 per day. There is a one time administration fee of $3. The deductible for the Collision Damage Waiver is $1000. The customer is responsible for the first $1000 in damages.
